Plan trips, budgets, and packing lists in real time with a self-hosted web app
Imagine a group moving locations on a map to build an itinerary, splitting expenses, and checking off packing items. This tool synchronizes that process in real time within a single web app. It is a travel planner that lets you run your own server and manage all data yourself.
Itinerary editing and route optimization on the map
You can drag and drop locations by date and automatically optimize travel routes. The map engine can be chosen from Leaflet, Mapbox GL, or MapLibre GL, with free OpenStreetMap-based options available. You can import lists from Google Maps or Naver Maps, as well as GPX files, to migrate existing plans. Collaboration features such as real-time chat, voting, and shared notes are included to facilitate communication during trip preparation.
Budget settlement and reservation automation
Travel costs are calculated precisely in integer cents, allowing multiple people to split expenses or receive settlement suggestions. Flight, train, and accommodation reservations are categorized into 16 types, managed with confirmation codes and attachments. The tool includes a feature to automatically parse reservation confirmations in EML, PDF, and PKPass formats to extract information. Packing lists can use category-specific templates, assign responsible parties, and track packing completion status. All data can be exported to PDF for sharing or archiving.
Mobile experience that continues offline
You can install the app as a PWA in the browser without using an app store, using it like a native app. Even if the network is disconnected, you can view the travel itinerary using pre-cached data, and any changes made offline are automatically synchronized upon reconnection. Map tiles can be pre-downloaded to view maps offline. The design supports status bar colors and themes that follow the system on both iOS and Android.
Enhanced security and plugin extension
Login methods can be combined using passwords, OIDC-based SSO, passkeys, and 2FA (TOTP). Administrators can finely control each user's access permissions, and all API calls and tool usage are recorded in audit logs. A plugin system allows adding features created by third-party developers, with each plugin running in an isolated sandbox environment. AI features can also be used to extract reservation information or generate travel summaries.
Pre-checks for self-hosting
This tool can be deployed via Docker or Kubernetes (Helm) and follows the AGPL v3 license. It can be used freely for personal or internal company purposes, but if modified and provided as a network service to third parties, the modifications must be released under the same license. Before starting operations, you must generate encryption keys and configure a reverse proxy that supports TLS termination (WebSocket support is required). Data backups are performed manually or periodically, and the storage backend can be set to local disk or S3-compatible storage. Technical capability to handle complex configuration and security management is required.
