Run a local AI job search assistant with Claude Code
Do you remember struggling to write applications on a weekend night? This repository uses Claude Code to handle the entire process on your local machine, from evaluating eligibility to drafting tailored resumes and preparing for interviews. It is not just a collection of templates; it is a structured workflow that learns from your career data to write and review applications.
The author's actual job search record
The author, a former geophysicist, lost their job at the end of 2025 and used this tool directly to conduct their job search. They transparently disclosed using the tool in every interview, noting that this actually served as a catalyst for technical conversations. These real-world cases provide evidence supporting the tool's effectiveness.
Application writing and review process
The core command /apply takes an application URL as input, evaluates suitability, and writes the resume and cover letter in LaTeX. The drafted document is then critically reviewed by a separate review agent that researches company information, after which revisions are made based on the feedback. During this process, PDF compilation is performed automatically, allowing visual verification and correction of page break errors, font issues, and problems where ATS (Applicant Tracking Systems) cannot read the text. All content is cross-checked against the actual profile to ensure no false experience or skills are included.
Interview preparation and outcome management
Once an interview is scheduled, the /interview command generates a step-by-step preparation package. It maps expected questions based on the resume and cover letter submitted during the application and previous round feedback, and conducts mock interviews. The /outcome command records application results (accepted, rejected, no response) and archives the submitted materials. Additionally, the /rank command sorts a large number of collected job postings by suitability to assign priorities. These features help systematically manage the job search process and accumulate information needed for the next application.
Pre-use considerations
To use this tool, you need a Claude Code subscription (Pro/Max/Team) or Anthropic API credits; there is no free tier. You must have Python 3.10 or higher, Bun, and a LaTeX distribution (such as TeX Live or MacTeX) installed. In particular, the /setup process records sensitive personal information such as name, contact details, and career history in repository files, so it is safer to set up a private repository rather than forking a public one. Also, the currently provided job site search function is optimized for the Danish market, so job seekers in other countries must use the /add-portal command to directly create search functionality for local sites.
